Hi everyone!!
I hope you're all doing so so good. I miss you all already. I made it to the MTC safely! These last couple of days have been so crazy but I'm feeling super blessed to finally be here.
Last week I was in the home MTC and while I loved being able to still be with my family, sleep in my own bed, and have access to Costa Vida and Swig, it's really nice to be in person now instead of over a screen.
On Tuesday morning I got dropped off here. It was really hard saying goodbye to my family and friends! BUT I have been SO busy these past couple of days that I've had no time to even be homesick which is good. Don't ask me how my Spanish is coming along because I dont wanna talk about it...
I LOVE my district. Really lucked out with that one because every single person is so awesome. My companion is also so sweet. It was kinda funny seeing them all in real life because before that I had only seen them all on zoom. On our first day of class we were making a list of things we can pray for as a district to become better missionaries and one of the Elders so confidently says "Can we pray for chastity?... I mean charity!!!" We were all dying laughing. Today we went to do baptisms at the temple and another Elder basically dropped me in the font as he was dunking me under because he lost his grip or something?? He was like "I'm so sorry are you okay??" I was laughing so hard "Yes i'm fine". Hahaha he felt so bad. There have been some super funny moments here so far and it's only day 4. I love them all tons!
So The Quorum of the 12 apostles are all here at the MTC this week because of the new mission leader training going on. It's funny because all of the missionaries know about it and it feels like the apostles are kind of mysteriously wandering about and if they were lucky, some missionaries would have the chance to see them around.
Yesterday, my teacher asked us if we wanted to go study outside for a portion of the class. We all wanted to so we headed outside and sat down at some tables right outside of the door. While we were studying, we heard someone say "Hey Elders", looked up and Elder David A Bednar walked right past us and into the doors of the building. A couple minutes later we saw him again through the window right in front of where we were sitting. He was in a classroom talking to a district of missionaries. My entire district must have been staring at him through the window because he looked up at us, waved, and then motioned for us to come into the classroom. We we're so excited to say the least. My whole district funneled into the back of the classroom and he answered all of our questions, gave us advice for our missions, told us stories, and at the end he said a prayer for us. I just remember feeling hit with the spirit the second I walked in the room. My heart was so full, I have never felt the spirit so strong then I did in this moment. I mean it makes sense - Elder Bednar, in a room with only about 20 missionaries, answering our questions, bearing his testimony, and praying for us. Such a cool experience and will definitely be a hard one to top.
Another plus to the apostles being here is the food is SO good this week. We have had some of the best meals, they even brought in Taco Bell one of the days. I've heard lots of things about the gross MTC food and I'm worried for next week but so far it's been so delicious. Nothing less than the best for the leaders of the church I guess. I wouldn't want it any other way.
So far the MTC has been really good! It's hard to believe I'm actually here. I feel like I've been preparing and planning for this for so long and now this is my life. Who was going to tell me that the MTC literally just feels like EFY? It feels like I'll just head home in a week or two. It will hit me soon hahaha.
I would be lying if I said that this week hasn't been hard work. I feel like I have a million things to memorize and a million things to study. They really said "Hi welcome to the MTC, here's this and this and this, memorize it all by Saturday!" Hahaha but I've also learned so much already. I have felt the spirit so much even in little things throughout each day. It's really cool that everyone here made the choice to devote 24 hours a day for the next 1.5 - 2 years to the Lord to learn about his gospel and get ready to teach people all over the world. It's been so interesting talking to different missionaries here and hearing about all the different places they are going, and all the unique languages they are learning. There are so many different languages it's crazy. It really just shows how important this work is on earth and how exciting that we all get to be a part of it. We are all truly so blessed here!!
I love you all and I miss you all so much! I'm feeling good and I'm excited to learn more and watch my testimony grow through each little activity we do here. Email me I wanna hear from you guys! 🇪🇸❤️
